2024 was a year of exploration. Trying new (and old) things. Learning from mistakes, picking myself back up. Figuring out what it is that I want to pursue.
2025 is the year of pursuit and… I want to focus on comics. I want to complete the comics I left incomplete in 2024 and establish the newest one that I’ve been working on the script and behind-the-scenes notes on these last few months.
Comics Projects
Beyond the Road – Graphic Novel
I’m already 15-pages in from last year’s work on the pitch deck. It’s just a matter of finishing the pages. For my sanity (and sense of accomplishment), I might just print it myself and have a set of books to sell with me at events. Beyond the Road is a non-fiction graphic memoir, and after some self-reflection and research, I doubt any publisher is going to want it since I’m not exactly a well-established name in social media or relevant industry. I’m okay with that since I don’t want non-fiction memoir comics to be my “thing”. I just want to get this story out and move forward with my next projects. But hey! If after it’s done, some publisher does reach out, then hooray! Let’s talk. But at least this way I won’t be sitting on my hands waiting for someone else to give me permission to draw my story.
Adventures with Titan – continued
I will continue to create 1-per-week comics about Adventures with Titan. However, I do want to set up a self-hosted webpage as the “home base” for the comic series, instead of relying on Webtoons and 3rd party platforms. I’m still figuring out the mechanics of how this will all work, but I do understand the barrier 3rd party platforms make to readers not familiar with them, so I do want to address that and make reading and supporting as painless as possible (this is probably my UX brain popping in).
White Angel – reboot
Back in 2015, I was releasing a YA urban fantasy webmanga called White Angel. It didn’t get many views, but it also wasn’t promoted well by me. I want to reboot it, draw it in color and tell the story I want to tell. I’ve been working on the outline, script, and world building bible in 2024 and will be able to start drawing pages in 2025. I’m excited to start this one up since it’s been my baby since forever.

Events!
Silver Age Comic Arts Fest – Reno, NV
I booked this in November 2024 so I’m already committed. I’m not sure what of the above will be ready in time for the event and how I’m even going to approach it (will I just be promoting my stuff? Will I have any books to sell?)… but I’ve never been to Reno. So at least it will be a fun adventure.
In Summary
I’m predicting my 2025 to be very comic-creating centric, with at least 1 comic convention already booked and committed to. I don’t expect to be making much income and it’s possible I’ll start looking to rejoin the corporate working world at the end of 2025, once the comic projects have settled into a manageable routine. I just need to get this out and done first. I’m not mad about it. Just accepting this may be how the world works right now.
